 FAQs

  • Pelvic PT is the evaluation and treatment of the muscles, bones and joints, connective tissues, and nerves in and around the pelvis. This area of specialty extends from the thoracic spine and diaphragm to feet and ankles, and of course includes the pelvic floor muscles. The pelvic floor supports the abdominal and pelvic organs (bladder, rectum, and uterus), helps with bladder and bowel control, contributes to posture and breathing mechanics, has a sexual function, and also supports the low back.

  • I believe collaborative, interdisciplinary care is the best treatment approach, and love to partner with your medical team to provide the best healthcare for you. If you have a referral from a physician, chiropractor, physician assistant, or APRN I am happy upload it into your chart. If not, I will still be able to see you for your initial evaluation. The state of Texas is a direct-access state, meaning you do not need a referral to seek out physical therapy services. However, you are required to have a referral within 10 business days of your initial evaluation if you wish to to continue treatment beyond 10 business days.

  • After scheduling your first appointment, you will have the opportunity to complete your intake forms. This is a way for you to share your story and health history with me, and gives me information that enables me to best prepare for your initial assessment. Once you arrive at the clinic, you will be taken to a private treatment room, where we will discuss in detail your health history, intake forms, current difficulties, and goals for Pelvic PT. After this I will perform a comprehensive exam based on your individual case. By compiling all of the information I gather, I will recommend treatment plan and make appropriate referrals if necessary to best facilitate your healing journey.

  • You should notice change within the first 2-3 sessions. This does not mean your symptoms will be resolved in 2-4 sessions, but you should notice change in the right direction within 2-4 sessions.
