Pregnancy Pelvic Health
At Texas Pelvic Health, we're here to support all of your pregnancy rehab needs, including but not limited to low back pain, pelvic pain, pubic symphysis pain, urinary leakage, round ligament pain, hip pain, and pressure or heaviness in the pelvic floor.
We also help prepare your body and pelvic floor for birth so that you can feel more confident, comfortable, and supported throughout pregnancy and delivery.
We're here to help you continue living your best life while growing and supporting life. Pregnancy rehab is one of our favorite things to treat because we get to watch our patients truly enjoy pregnancy and thrive during this season instead of simply trying to survive it. With the right treatment and support, many patients are able to return to the hobbies and activities they love, play with their toddler more comfortably, stay active during pregnancy, and move throughout their day with less pain and fewer pelvic floor symptoms.
Back pain during pregnancy is common, and pelvic pain during pregnancy is common, but common does not always mean normal. And more importantly, it does not mean this has to be your reality for the next nine or ten months. In many cases, these symptoms can be significantly improved with the right support, movement strategies, hands-on treatment, and pelvic floor physical therapy care.
Let me be clear: You do not have to just deal with these nagging symptoms simply because you're pregnant.
While these symptoms may be common during pregnancy, they are not something you should be expected to just push through without support. There is treatment available, and you deserve to actually enjoy your pregnancy instead of spending months feeling miserable or limited by pain.
Symptoms and Diagnoses We Treat in Pregnancy Physical Therapy Sessions
Pregnancy places significant demands on your body, pelvic floor, core, hips, and nervous system. While many symptoms are considered “common” during pregnancy, that does not mean they should simply be ignored or tolerated for nine to ten months.
At Texas Pelvic Health, we help patients navigate the physical changes of pregnancy with individualized, one on one care focused on helping you feel stronger, more comfortable, and more supported throughout pregnancy and birth preparation.

Your Questions, Answered
-
Yes. Pelvic floor physical therapy is considered safe during most pregnancies and can be incredibly beneficial for managing pain, improving mobility, preparing for labor, and helping you stay active throughout pregnancy. Treatment is always individualized based on your symptoms, trimester, medical history, and comfort level.
-
No. Internal treatment and examination are never required. Your therapist will discuss all treatment options with you and create a plan of care based on your symptoms, goals, and comfort level. Many pregnancy related symptoms can be addressed through movement assessment, breathing mechanics, strength training, hands on treatment, pressure management strategies, and external treatment techniques.
-
You can start pelvic floor physical therapy at any point during pregnancy. Some patients begin care early in pregnancy to stay active and proactive, while others seek treatment after developing pain, leakage, pelvic pressure, or difficulty with daily activities. We also commonly see patients in the third trimester for birth preparation and labor prep.
-
Absolutely. Birth preparation is one of our favorite things to treat at Texas Pelvic Health. We commonly help patients with pushing mechanics, pelvic mobility, breathing strategies, labor positions, pelvic floor relaxation, perineal massage education, and pressure management strategies to help you feel more confident and prepared for delivery.
-
Yes. Urinary leakage during pregnancy is common, but it is not something you simply have to accept. Pelvic floor physical therapy can help improve pelvic floor coordination, pressure management, breathing mechanics, and strength to help reduce leaking symptoms during pregnancy.
-
Yes. Pelvic floor physical therapy is not only for patients in pain. Many patients come during pregnancy for birth preparation, exercise guidance, pelvic floor education, core coordination training, and proactive support to help make pregnancy and postpartum recovery smoother.
-
In many cases, yes. One of our biggest goals is helping patients continue doing the things they enjoy throughout pregnancy whenever possible. We commonly help modify workouts, improve movement patterns, reduce pain with exercise, and create individualized strengthening programs that support your changing body throughout pregnancy.

Your first appointment atTexas Pelvic Health will include a detailed conversation about your symptoms, pregnancy, goals, daily activities, exercise routine, and concerns. From there, your therapist will perform an individualized assessment that may include posture, breathing mechanics, core coordination, mobility, strength, movement patterns, and pelvic floor assessment if appropriate and desired. Every treatment plan is customized specifically to you and your pregnancy.
“Cannot recommend Dr. Bailey Jones enough! She has been helping me with my pregnancy journey, and I will continue to see her post pregnancy as well. My round ligament pain has decreased in my third trimester, and my chiropractor has noticed a difference in my body as well since starting my pelvic floor therapy. I encourage every woman to invest in their body and seek help they may need, and Dr. Bailey should be your first stop!”

Return to your hobbies and activities without symptoms
At Texas Pelvic Health, we see our patients one-on-one for a full hour each appointment. This allows the time needed to truly discuss the complexity of pelvic health and pregnancy-related conditions instead of rushing through your care.
Our practice does not utilize therapy techs or aides, meaning you are treated by a physical therapist for the entirety of your session. Our therapists have dedicated their careers to learning about complex pelvic health and pregnancy-related conditions and are passionate about helping patients better understand their bodies, feel empowered in their care, and heal through a holistic and individualized approach.
